Will Jacks scored his first fifty in this year’s The Hundred to lead MI London to a narrow win over Southern Brave. His 54 runs from 41 balls, featuring three boundaries and two sixes, provided the foundation for chasing a target of 130 at Southampton.
MI London appeared to be cruising at 93-3, but a sudden collapse saw four wickets fall for 34 runs. Marcus Stoinis swung the momentum for the Brave by taking three wickets, including the crucial lbw dismissal of Jacks. However, Sherfane Rutherford kept MI in contention with a quick 21, and despite a tense final over where two wickets fell, Ollie Pope hit the final ball for two runs to clinch the result.
Earlier, Southern Brave managed 129-9, bolstered primarily by Jamie Smith’s aggressive 49 off 26 deliveries. MI London’s bowling attack was balanced, with Trent Boult standing out by taking 2-15. With this result, MI London sits third in the standings, while the Southern Brave remain near the bottom after suffering their third consecutive defeat.
