Authorities in Kano have apprehended three individuals following the fatal beating of a man. In an unrelated event, a woman is currently held by police for allegedly stabbing her partner and mutilating his genitals.
The first incident took place on July 24 within the Sheka district. Police report that 30-year-old Abubakar Auwal was targeted by Abubakar Ali and Sulaiman Lawan, who accused him of involvement with a married woman named Hafsat Umar. Officers responding to the scene discovered the victim in a comatose state due to severe physical trauma. Despite being transported to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, doctors pronounced him dead. The three individuals involved remain in custody awaiting formal charges.
A separate attack occurred on July 27 at the Durbar Hotel in Badawa. Maimunatu Idris, aged 25, allegedly assaulted her boyfriend with a knife after discovering his intentions to wed another woman. During the confrontation, the man’s genitals were severed. Police officers secured the weapon at the scene and placed the suspect under arrest. The injured man is undergoing medical care at Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital.
Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, denounced these acts of violence. He urged the public to refrain from vigilante actions and confirmed that the police department is conducting comprehensive investigations to ensure those responsible face prosecution.
