Benjamin Kalu Appointed to Lead APC Security Secretariat for Osun Gubernatorial Poll

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu has been named Secretary of the APC Security Committee for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.

Benjamin Okezie Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has secured a leadership role within the All Progressives Congress. He will serve as the Secretary for the Security Committee tasked with oversight for the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial race.

This assignment was confirmed through an official announcement from Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the APC National Secretary. The formal introduction of the campaign council and its associated committees is set to occur this Tuesday in Abuja.

Kalu’s new responsibility involves orchestrating security protocols to ensure that the electoral process remains secure and fair. His position places him in a vital role for coordinating party strategy during the pre-election phase and the voting day itself.

Other high-ranking officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, have been named to the National Campaign Council. These leaders are tasked with managing the party’s mobilization, logistics, and public engagement efforts. The Osun election, slated for August 15, 2026, represents a significant focus for the APC as it builds momentum toward the 2027 general elections.
