Former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola has rejected assertions by Governor Ademola Adeleke that he was gifted a vehicle in exchange for supporting APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji. In a conversation with Channels Television, Oyinlola labeled the governor’s statement as dishonest.
He clarified that the car was provided by the state administration as part of the legal benefits afforded to former governors, rather than as a personal favor from Adeleke. According to Oyinlola, the Osun State House of Assembly passed a law mandating that official vehicles for former governors be replaced every four years.
Oyinlola, who has been out of office for 16 years, stated that he is owed multiple vehicle replacements based on these legislative provisions. He further noted that the law includes additional entitlements such as security personnel, domestic staff, and drivers. This rebuttal arrives during a period of intense political maneuvering before the upcoming election, where Adeleke aims to retain his position against Oyebamiji.
