Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress in the 2027 election, has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. During an appearance on the Channels Television program Sunday Politics, Obi characterized the government’s primary policy framework as a failure that breeds a sense of despair rather than optimism.
Obi contended that the current administration’s economic policies have failed to boost public morale or elevate the standard of living for everyday Nigerians. When questioned about whether his own economic strategy centered on production shared similarities with the current administration’s approach, the former Anambra State governor explicitly denied any connection. He dismissed the comparison, reiterating that the existing framework is ineffective.
Rather than relying on rhetoric, the candidate emphasized that his platform is focused on delivering concrete results. He argued that the nation requires genuine progress that citizens can actively experience. According to Obi, his goal is to provide a form of tangible hope that manifests in visible improvements to the lives of the people.
