Soldiers from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, alongside Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke, successfully liberated two kidnap victims during a security patrol in the Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State.
This mission occurred early on Saturday, July 26, after the military received actionable intelligence regarding criminal activity in the Lande Jessi region. According to Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the operation was prompted by reports of armed individuals raiding the Tashan Musa and Barkindan Fulani communities, where they seized two locals and stole supplies.
The rescued individuals, Usman Mohammed and Usman Harusu, had been held by their captors for seven days prior to the intervention. Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commander of the 6 Brigade and Sector 3, praised the personnel for their professionalism and efficiency. He noted that the mission aligns with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu’s, mandate to eliminate criminal threats and ensure national stability.
Brigadier General Akaliro encouraged his forces to maintain their momentum while urging the public to continue providing vital information to help security agencies protect civilian populations.
