Alonso outlines vision for integrating Rogers and Palmer

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has revealed he has a strategic plan to pair record signing Morgan Rogers with Cole Palmer, expressing confidence in their ability to perform together.

Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has confirmed he has a strategy to feature record-breaking £117m signing Morgan Rogers alongside Cole Palmer. Alonso remains confident that the England international will adapt quickly to Stamford Bridge. Rogers, who transitioned from Aston Villa last week, holds the title of the most expensive British player in history.

Currently, the 24-year-old is on break following his World Cup participation, while the rest of the Chelsea squad conducts their pre-season tour in Sydney. Alonso believes Rogers possesses the quality necessary to make an immediate impact without requiring an extended adjustment period to the system or his new peers. The midfielder has signed a six-year deal with an additional one-year option.

Regarding the chemistry between Rogers and Palmer, who are close friends, Alonso noted that he envisions them forming a strong partnership on the pitch. The manager emphasized the need for a balanced squad, noting that the club is pursuing multiple signings including Maxence Lacroix, Geovany Quenda, Emmanuel Emegha, Marco Palestra, and potentially Valentin Barco. With the squad size ballooning toward 40 players, Alonso acknowledged that significant departures are inevitable to maintain team efficiency as the transfer window progresses.
