Kun Khalifat FC Initiates Sale of Majority Stakes

NPFL side Kun Khalifat FC has confirmed it is selling its majority shares, with the transition expected to be finished before the 2026/27 season.

Kun Khalifat FC, a member of the Nigeria Premier Football League, is actively searching for new ownership. The Owerri-based organization, often called the Pride of Imo, formally notified the NPFL on Friday regarding the ongoing transfer of its majority shareholding to a potential purchaser.

The club aims to finalize this transition prior to the commencement of the 2026/27 season, a move that would also facilitate an official rebranding. Kun Khalifat earned its place in the top division two years ago following a successful run in the Nigeria National League.

Previously, the team struggled with significant budget constraints, which nearly led them to withdraw from the competition last year. Despite those fiscal difficulties, the management decided to stay, and the squad successfully secured their top-flight status by ending the season in 16th place.
