Industry leaders and business figures are praising Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, for stabilizing the Federal Ministry of Finance. Stakeholders suggest his tenure has eliminated years of policy ambiguity and solidified the ministry’s role as the engine of government economic strategy.
Representing professional bodies, the private sector, and investment groups, these experts highlight a major shift in how the ministry operates. They point to better engagement, tighter fiscal coordination, and increased transparency as clear indicators of progress. This marks a significant turn from past periods characterized by poor communication and disjointed fiscal planning.
Samuel Agbeluyi, President of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, noted that Oyedele has introduced professionalism and a clear strategic vision. By prioritizing evidence-based policies and inclusive dialogue, the minister has improved trust between government entities, businesses, and development partners.
The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association added that the ministry is now much more receptive to private sector concerns. This ongoing conversation between the government and businesses has led to a more predictable environment for companies. Furthermore, tax expert Daniel Ikedi emphasized that Oyedele has effectively unified economic institutions, improved policy communication, and pushed forward essential revenue reforms.
While Oyedele was already known for his work on tax reform, his current role allows him to put those proposals into practice. Faith Aina, another industry observer, noted that the current momentum offers hope that the ministry is now fully equipped to support Nigeria’s economic recovery and future growth.
