Soldiers from the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, successfully liberated 48 individuals after responding to a terrorist raid in Magami village, located in the Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The event occurred early on July 26, 2026.
Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the media officer, reported on Sunday that while the rescue was successful, one civilian died during the confrontation, and two others were wounded. The military launched the mission after receiving reports that approximately 40 terrorists on motorcycles had encircled the village and were attempting to abduct residents.
Upon reaching the location, the troops engaged the attackers in a gun battle, compelling them to retreat into the wilderness. All 48 captives were safely recovered. The injured victims were transferred to the General Hospital in Kaura Namoda for emergency care.
To secure the area, soldiers initiated heightened patrols to prevent subsequent assaults. Military leadership praised the bravery shown by the troops and reaffirmed their dedication to safety in the North West. The public is encouraged to assist security forces by reporting suspicious activities to help eliminate insurgent groups.
