During the final, Argentina suffered a 1-0 defeat against Spain after a solitary goal from Ferran Torres. Despite this result, Paredes maintains that the match was likely not Messi’s final appearance for the national squad.
In an interview shared on X by Sport Daily, Paredes stated that he believes Messi has already finalized his plans. While he expressed a personal desire for the forward to keep playing, he emphasized that the choice rests entirely with the captain. Paredes added that the team will support whatever path makes the Inter Miami player happy.
Throughout his tenure with Argentina, Messi has secured victories in both the Copa America and the World Cup. It remains uncertain whether he will participate in a future World Cup tournament.
