Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, recently characterized Rotimi Amaechi, the former Minister of Transportation and Rivers State Governor, as being similar to current Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during a Saturday interview on Symfoni TV, Lawal addressed questions regarding Amaechi’s political standing and his comparison to other prominent figures like Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu, and Peter Obi. Lawal argued that Amaechi’s political trajectory has been heavily influenced by a sense of excessive personal ambition.
Lawal noted that while he holds a favorable view of Amaechi as an individual, he remains uncertain about his effectiveness as a political leader due to his temperament. He described the former minister as brash, suggesting he functions as a more refined version of Wike. Despite these criticisms regarding his political maneuvering, Lawal clarified that he harbors no personal animosity toward Amaechi.
