Goalkeeper Vozinha to join Colo Colo following impressive World Cup performance

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, a standout at the World Cup, is set to sign with the Chilean club Colo Colo following a strong tournament performance.

Vozinha, the Cape Verdean goalkeeper who captured attention with his standout displays at the World Cup, is finalizing a move to the Chilean club Colo Colo. The 40-year-old was a free agent after his stint with the Portuguese club Chaves ended, but his performance in a scoreless draw against eventual tournament winners Spain quickly turned him into a global sensation.

Anibal Mosa, the president of Colo Colo, confirmed the signing. He stated that the goalkeeper is expected to arrive in Santiago soon to complete medical assessments before being introduced at the Estadio Monumental. Mosa highlighted that the veteran’s World Cup form justifies the acquisition and noted that the signing brings significant marketing value to the club, which currently leads the Chilean top division.

Although the deal is pending finalization, the team hinted at the addition on social media by posting a photo of the keeper’s distinct hairstyle. Vozinha became a fan favorite during the tournament, leading Cape Verde to their first World Cup point against Spain. The team, representing one of the smallest nations to qualify for the event, later exited in the round of 32 after a hard-fought 3-2 extra-time loss to Argentina. Throughout his career, Vozinha has competed in leagues across Slovakia, Angola, Moldova, Cyprus, and Portugal.
