The Huddersfield Giants snapped a difficult 12-match losing streak in the Super League by securing a narrow victory against the York Knights. While the Giants appeared to be cruising toward a win after Zac Woolford extended their lead to 24-10 with ten minutes remaining, late scores from York’s Jordan Thompson and Tom Inman created a tense finish. The Giants managed to withstand the pressure in the closing minutes to secure their first victory under head coach Jim Lenihan, who took over in May.
The match saw a strong performance from Tui Lolohea, who crossed for a try and assisted efforts from Lewis Jagger and Connor Wrench. For York, David Nofoaluma opened the scoring, followed by a try from Scott Galeano, but the home side could not overcome the visitors’ advantage. This result marks Huddersfield’s third win of the season, two of which have come against York. Despite sitting at the bottom of the Super League table, Huddersfield has now reduced their deficit to four points behind Hull FC, whom they face next.
