Vozinha, the 40-year-old goalkeeper who became a standout figure during Cape Verde’s impressive World Cup performance, is joining the Chilean squad Colo Colo. Club president Anibal Mosa confirmed the acquisition on Friday, noting that the player will travel to Chile shortly to complete medical evaluations before his official introduction at Monumental Stadium.
Known by his full name Josimar Jose Evora Dias, the goalkeeper previously played for the Portuguese side Chaves. Throughout his career, he has competed professionally in various countries, including Slovakia, Cyprus, Angola, and Moldova. Mosa emphasized that the decision to sign him was based on his current excellent physical condition and high level of play.
The veteran keeper gained significant recognition during the tournament, particularly for his defensive efforts during a scoreless draw against Spain and a narrow defeat against Argentina. Beyond his performance on the field, his popularity surged online after Brazilian influencer Casimiro highlighted him, resulting in his Instagram follower count jumping from 50,000 to approximately 30 million. Colo Colo currently sits atop the Chilean league standings as they pursue another title.
