Noah Lyles secured a dominant win at the US athletics championships held at Icahn Stadium in New York City, clocking a world-leading 9.79 seconds in the 100m sprint. This performance matches his personal record, a mark he previously set while capturing gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. His time surpassed the 9.82 seconds established by Jamaican runner Oblique Seville earlier this June. Lyles finished ahead of Ronnie Baker and Kenny Bednarek, both of whom crossed the finish line at 9.88 seconds, while Christian Coleman took fourth place with 9.93 seconds. Emphasizing his commitment to performance despite the absence of a global championship this year, Lyles noted that he remains focused on consistent dominance. In the women’s event, 2023 world champion Sha’Carri Richardson claimed victory with a time of 10.77 seconds.
