Sports commentator Bülent Timurlenk has argued that Victor Osimhen is not the right fit to lead Galatasaray as captain, citing concerns over the Nigerian forward’s temperament. Despite acknowledging his strong on-field contributions, Timurlenk highlighted issues with Osimhen’s emotional outbursts toward officials and peers.
Galatasaray is currently searching for a new leader following the departure of Mauro Icardi. While manager Okan Buruk has noted that Osimhen shows leadership potential, Timurlenk believes Abdülkerim Bardakcı is a more logical choice for the role. The pundit pointed out that while the technical staff may want to reward Osimhen, his current behavior on the pitch suggests he is not ready for the responsibility.
Osimhen has previously captained Nigeria, but his recent behavior at the club level remains a point of friction. The striker sat out Galatasaray’s 5-1 exhibition win over Ümraniyespor this past Friday.
