Deyci Alejandra Omaña Ortiz, widely recognized as Amaranta Hank, has taken her oath of office to become a senator in Colombia. This transition follows her successful run during the nation’s parliamentary elections held in March.
As a representative for the Norte de Santander department, Omaña is part of the Historic Pact coalition and will serve throughout the 2026–2030 term. Her position was confirmed after she ranked 23rd on the alliance’s closed list. The Historic Pact secured 25 seats in the Senate, garnering over 4.4 million votes, which represented roughly 22.72 percent of the electorate.
Omaña, whose background includes both journalism and the adult entertainment sector, has maintained that her previous work does not impair her capacity for governance. She is a vocal supporter of enhanced legal safeguards for workers within the adult industry, contending that these individuals provide economic value and should be free from stigma. Addressing her detractors on TikTok, she defended her right to seek public office despite her professional history.
Her political platform includes a focus on mental health advocacy and the prevention of sexual violence. Prior to this victory, Omaña gained attention for her appointment as a deputy minister within the Ministry of Equality by President Gustavo Petro—a decision that prompted significant national conversation. Her presence in the Senate serves as a notable milestone in Colombian politics, sparking broader dialogue regarding the intersection of personal backgrounds and public leadership roles.
