To mark World Youth Skills Day 2026, the Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club held a bead-making workshop for students from Premier Day Nursery and Primary School and Raufu Williams Primary School in Surulere, Lagos. This project aligns with the Lions International focus on youth development, aiming to foster creativity, self-reliance, and entrepreneurial interest among young learners.
Lion Soledotun Abdulkarim-Yusuf, the club’s president, stated that blending traditional education with vocational training is essential for preparing students for future success. She encouraged the children to value these practical lessons as building blocks for their careers, noting that hands-on skills promote patience and innovation.
The training session was led by Mrs. Olusola Anuoluwapo Elizabeth of Marvliz Couture. She instructed the pupils on essential techniques for crafting jewelry, such as bracelets and necklaces. The initiative received support from the Surulere Local Government Education Authority and local school staff, reflecting the club’s dedication to improving educational outcomes in the community.
