The Department of State Services prosecuted the three men, identified as Abdulrazak Umar, Yunusa Musa, and Shamsu Adamu Sani, for their roles in the criminal operation within the Orire local government area.

During the sentencing on Thursday, the court found the trio guilty of participating in a banned terrorist organization. The victims remained held in a forest for nearly two months before their eventual release on July 10, 2026. Following the verdict, various social media users have expressed dissatisfaction, calling for capital punishment to be imposed instead.
