Midfielders Gavi and Fabian Ruiz were given a unique gift by their hometown of Los Palacios y Villafranca after securing the 2026 FIFA World Cup title for Spain. In line with a traditional local practice, both players were presented with quantities of tomatoes matching their individual body weights.

Following Spain’s defeat of Argentina in the final, the municipality bestowed 187 pounds of tomatoes upon Fabian Ruiz and 151 pounds to Gavi, totaling 338 pounds of produce. This longstanding custom serves as a special acknowledgment of local athletes who triumph in major international sporting events.

Photographs from the event captured the two footballers celebrating with crates of tomatoes alongside community members. This gesture highlights a regional tradition that adds a personal flair to the broader national festivities surrounding Spain’s second World Cup championship.
