On Thursday morning, a fire broke out at the Justrite Superstore located on Akowonjo Road in the Egbeda-Akowonjo district of Lagos. The blaze specifically ravaged the second-floor electronics department, though fortunately, there were no injuries or fatalities reported.
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service reported receiving an emergency call at 8:15 a.m. Crews from the Abesan and Agege stations reached the premises at 116 Akowonjo Road by 8:28 a.m. Upon arrival, the teams initiated containment procedures to prevent the flames from engulfing the rest of the facility.
Firefighting efforts were successful, and the agency confirmed the blaze is now fully extinguished, with personnel currently finalizing mop-up operations. Margaret Adeseye, the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, verified that the incident resulted in zero casualties. Preliminary investigations point toward a solar inverter system as the likely origin of the fire.
