Newcastle United finalize £34m transfer for Monaco midfielder Bamba

Newcastle United are set to sign Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba for £34m after the 20-year-old travels to Tyneside for a medical.

Newcastle United have reached an agreement to secure Monaco’s Aladji Bamba in a transfer package valued at £34 million. The 20-year-old French talent, who debuted at the senior level in August 2025, is scheduled to arrive on Tyneside this Thursday to undergo a physical examination and finalize a multi-year contract.

The move follows Newcastle’s sale of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham, prompting the club to bolster its midfield options. Bamba, a regular for French youth national teams, brings a robust defensive profile. Statistically, he stood out in Ligue 1 last season, ranking among the top five midfielders for successful tackles, aerial duels, and individual take-ons per 500 minutes played.

This acquisition follows Newcastle’s earlier signing of 18-year-old Sean Steur from Ajax. The club previously faced competition for talent, with another potential recruit, Johan Manzambi, choosing to sign with Aston Villa instead.
