Rauf Aregbesola, current National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, asserts that he is the only Nigerian governor to complete an eight-year term without possessing a private residence. The former Osun State leader, who previously aligned with President Bola Tinubu, stated that he resided in a friend’s home throughout his governorship.
Addressing his supporters in a recent video, Aregbesola challenged critics to prove otherwise, stating that he lived in his friend’s house while governing his home state. He served as the governor of Osun State from 2010 to 2018, followed by a tenure as the Minister of Interior during the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
During his time leading Osun, Aregbesola focused on several primary policy objectives. These included efforts to eliminate poverty, hunger, and joblessness, while simultaneously prioritizing public health, quality education, and regional social stability.
