Military Operations Result in 11 Rescue Missions and 21 Arrests

Military forces executed operations across three states, rescuing 11 hostages and arresting 21 suspects involved in terrorism, drug distribution, and logistical support for criminal networks.

Security forces successfully liberated 11 hostages and apprehended 21 individuals, including suspected terrorists, collaborators, and drug dealers, during a series of missions in Borno, Zamfara, and Kogi states. These actions, reported on Thursday, took place between July 21 and July 22 under the banners of Operation HADIN KAI, Operation Fansan Yamma, and Operation MESA.

In Borno state, troops captured three ISWAP logistical supporters near the New Abbaram Resettlement Village in Bama, seizing food supplies like groundnut oil and salt intended for insurgent groups. Two teenage girls who fled the Grazah enclave in the Mandara Mountains were also safely recovered. Furthermore, military personnel neutralized explosive devices discovered on the Dambua-Bulabulin-Kumala and Cross Kauwa-Kekeno-Monguno roads. In Monguno, authorities conducted raids that resulted in the arrest of 12 drug suspects and the confiscation of various illicit substances.

Operations in Zamfara involved forces clashing with terrorists along the Gambada-Gummi-Sokoto route, prompting the insurgents to retreat and leave behind 11 rescued kidnap victims alongside a motorcycle. Meanwhile, in Kogi, troops detained a suspected informant linked to terrorist leader Kachallah Babangida, along with three other suspected terrorists in Adavi and Lokoja. Two additional logistical couriers were intercepted while attempting to deliver food and beverages to militant groups.

While search efforts continue for two individuals recently kidnapped in Owo, Ondo State, the military emphasizes that these consistent, multi-theatre operations aim to weaken logistical networks and suppress criminal activity across the country.
