Seyi Olofinjana, a former midfielder for the Super Eagles, has opened up about his absence from the 2010 FIFA World Cup roster. Despite playing a vital role during the qualifying rounds and serving as team captain on several occasions, he claims he was never provided with a reason for his sudden omission.
During an appearance on the Play Zone podcast, Olofinjana noted that neither the national team coaching staff nor the Nigeria Football Federation reached out to offer any explanation. He pointed out that while selection is never guaranteed, the lack of professional courtesy was disheartening. He emphasized that he was not seeking special treatment, but rather basic communication after his consistent efforts for the country.
Olofinjana reflected on his time with the national team between 2000 and 2011, noting that wearing the Nigerian jersey was always an honor. He stated that he felt immense pride representing his nation and remains deeply connected to the team today. Despite his disappointment regarding the 2010 snub, he maintains a strong sense of respect for his past service to the Super Eagles.
