Before his passing, Siad was the subject of a French investigation regarding allegations of rape and human trafficking. While he had not yet faced formal questioning, he consistently maintained his innocence. His legal representative, Menya Arab-Tigrine, expressed that the intense pressure of the ongoing investigation likely contributed to his health decline. Following his death, the Paris prosecutor’s office has ceased the case against him, though the broader inquiry into trafficking activities involving Epstein continues.
Siad’s name appeared in numerous declassified documents related to Epstein, and he famously described his recruitment methods as being like fishing. His death has drawn sharp criticism from survivors and advocates, who feel a key opportunity for justice has been lost. Ebba Karlsson, a former model who accused Siad of rape earlier this year, described the news as profoundly frustrating. Similarly, advocate Lisa Brinkworth expressed shock, calling for the prosecutor’s office to accelerate investigations into other associates linked to the late American financier.
