A 45-year-old individual named Tope Oladipo appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrate’s Court following his arraignment by the Ekiti State Police Command. He stands accused of orchestrating a 9 million Naira fraud scheme connected to a failed vehicle transaction.
Oladipo faces a three-count indictment involving conspiracy, obtaining funds through false pretenses, and fraudulent conversion. He denied all accusations brought against him. Inspector Elijah Adejare, the prosecutor, informed the court that the incident took place on November 11, 2025, in the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District, with other unnamed suspects still sought by law enforcement.
The prosecution contends that Oladipo swindled Rotimi Babatunde by collecting 9 million Naira under the pretense of providing a 2013 Hyundai vehicle that was never handed over. Adejare further alleged that the defendant misappropriated the funds for his own benefit, violating the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Representing the accused, Japhet Balogun requested bail, emphasizing that his client would cooperate with the court and attend all scheduled hearings. Chief Magistrate Kehinde Awosika granted Oladipo bail set at 200,000 Naira with two sureties meeting the same financial requirement. The proceedings are scheduled to continue on August 24.
