Community leaders have praised the recent safety gains in Sango-Ota and nearby areas, crediting the Inspector-General of Police’s Operation KOSAYE. The Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege Ekun 11, noted during a visit by Ogun State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni that crime has dropped significantly along the Ogun-Lagos border due to this initiative.
Commissioner Ojajuni highlighted that the special force has effectively detained or neutralized numerous suspects. He emphasized that the current stability in Sango-Ota results from strong cooperation between the police, other security groups, and local residents. He encouraged citizens to continue reporting suspicious activity, noting that community involvement is essential for effective policing. Additionally, the Commissioner instructed officers to maintain high standards of conduct, specifically prohibiting corruption and harassment.
Area Commander ACP Olusola Oladele reported that her command, covering Ado-Odo/Ota and Ifo, has achieved success through intelligence-led patrols. However, she requested additional resources, such as communication tools and protective gear, to better support her personnel. She also warned that criminal elements may be returning to the abandoned Gateway Hotel, urging a new joint security effort at that site.
Commander Adekunle Ajibade of TRACE, representing other security agencies, welcomed the Commissioner’s visit as a sign of strong leadership. He committed to ongoing collaboration and information sharing to ensure the region remains inhospitable to criminal activity.
