The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has initiated significant disciplinary measures against 79 members of its staff due to professional violations. Babawale Afolabi, the National Public Relations Officer, stated that the organization also captured 12 people suspected of tampering with essential infrastructure and trafficking illicit weapons.
Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi stated that the agency maintains a strict policy against malpractice to ensure public safety and organizational integrity. Investigations into 75 officers, including high-ranking officials and junior staff, resulted in various penalties such as firing, mandatory retirement, and legal action. These individuals were found guilty of offenses including financial impropriety, unauthorized absence, and activities harmful to national security.
Specific disciplinary actions were finalized regarding the fatal incident on February 18, 2026, in Nasarawa State, where Commander Levi Agada was killed. Officers Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran were dismissed and face criminal charges for engaging with illegal miners without orders. Furthermore, four other officers are under investigation by the Special Intelligence Squad and the Nigerian Army for alleged arms dealing. These include Tesie Victor Nnamdi, Okwuruinya Uchenna, and Obaji Sampson, alongside Superintendent Achor Favour, who faces scrutiny for the alleged mistreatment of a teenager.
Beyond internal discipline, the agency arrested nine suspects across several states for firearm-related crimes. Additionally, officials intercepted six individuals transporting stolen railway sleepers in a trailer near Sabon Wuse on July 25, 2026. Two more men, Raphael Danjuma and Isaac Zegbe, were taken into custody for cable theft in the Gwagwalada area. The NSCDC clarified that these bad actors do not represent the entire force, while confirming that all legal rights are being upheld for those currently under investigation.
