The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State has advised all qualified citizens to sign up for their voter cards no later than Sunday, July 26. Dr. Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the state, issued this warning while supervising the final stage of the Continuous Voter Registration process on Wednesday.
During visits to various centers in Akure and Idanre, Dr. Agboke stressed that failing to register equates to neglecting one’s civic duties. He warned residents against waiting until the last minute and then blaming the commission for their inability to vote. He clarified that having one’s details on the official electoral roll is the only way to gain the right to participate in upcoming elections.
Although the commissioner expressed approval regarding the current turnout in the state, he urged the public to prioritize both registration and the collection of their Permanent Voter Cards. He further guaranteed that those who register before the cutoff will receive their cards well ahead of the 2027 general elections.
