MOUAU Vice-Chancellor mandates reimbursement of NELFUND fees for qualifying students

MOUAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ursula Ngozi Akanwa has directed that students who received NELFUND loans after paying their tuition fees be reimbursed immediately.

Professor Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, the Vice-Chancellor at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), has ordered an immediate reimbursement of tuition fees for students who secured support from the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). This announcement was made during the swearing-in event for the new Students’ Union Government executives.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that the school Bursar has received instructions to begin processing these refunds. This measure ensures that students who settled their financial obligations prior to obtaining loan approval are not penalized by the government initiative. Additionally, Professor Akanwa encouraged students to finalize their course registrations as soon as the 2026/2027 academic session begins to ensure classes start on time.

She also addressed the newly elected student leaders, advising them to prioritize inclusive, responsible governance. The Vice-Chancellor encouraged them to collaborate with school administration to maintain institutional peace and enhance the overall experience for the student body.
