The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that the recently refurbished Hajj Terminal at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos is now equipped to handle between 8,500 and 10,000 travelers throughout the Hajj season. FAAN Managing Director Olubunmi Kuku noted that the facility had previously fallen into disrepair, providing a subpar experience for travelers.
During a site visit on Wednesday, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo emphasized that these improvements are part of a broader government initiative to provide a smoother Hajj process for Nigerian pilgrims. Keyamo stated that President Bola Tinubu has prioritized aviation infrastructure, including runway repairs and airport reconstructions nationwide. He expressed satisfaction with the new prayer rooms, screening equipment, and boarding areas, noting that these updates were achieved through careful financial management.
FAAN Board Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje praised the project as a clear sign of progress within the industry. He commended the Minister for successfully executing the administration’s goals, noting that the visible upgrades at the terminal demonstrate that the government’s policy implementation is yielding tangible results.
