The Nigerian Navy has successfully transferred two individuals rescued from human trafficking to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). This action emphasizes the Navy’s ongoing dedication to fighting transnational organized crime.
Commodore Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Information for the Nigerian Navy, confirmed the development on Wednesday. He stated that personnel from the Forward Operating Base in Badagry conducted a focused operation on July 17, 2026, which led to the rescue. The victims were moved to the NAPTIP Lagos Zonal Command in Ikeja two days later.
Following the Harmonised Standard Operating Procedures, the victims were processed at the Western Naval Command Maritime Crime Investigation Desk. They completed biometric and administrative requirements before being handed over to NAPTIP for protection and rehabilitation services. This mission reflects the Navy’s focus on securing national maritime borders and cooperating with other government agencies to neutralize trafficking networks. Moving forward, the Navy intends to keep using intelligence-led strategies to dismantle criminal syndicates and ensure safer maritime territory.
