Real Madrid Star Vinicius Jr Speaks Out After Being Snubbed at Ballon d’Or
Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior has addressed his decision to boycott this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Following the announcement that Manchester City’s Rodri was selected as the award winner, Vinicius and the club opted not to attend the ceremony at the Théâtre du Châtelet.

The Spanish giants had anticipated that if their Brazilian forward wasn’t recognized, right-back Dani Carvajal might receive the award after his successes in La Liga, the Champions League, and the Euros.
However, when it was revealed today that Rodri was the actual winner, Real Madrid reacted with anger, prohibiting club representatives from attending the event.
Now, just minutes after an emotional Rodri accepted the award for his contributions to Spain’s Euro 2024 victory and his club’s fourth consecutive Premier League title, Vinicius has finally spoken out.
‘I’ll do it 10x if I have to. They’re not ready,’ he posted on X, hinting at future successes.
Vinicius was a strong contender for the 2024 Ballon d’Or due to his impressive performance in leading Madrid’s attack to a La Liga-UEFA Champions League double.
The 24-year-old Brazilian scored six goals and provided four assists in ten Champions League matches, while contributing to 20 goals in 26 La Liga appearances.
‘If the criteria of the award do not proclaim Vinicius the winner, those same criteria must proclaim Carvajal the winner,’ the club stated earlier today.
‘Since this has not been the case, it is obvious that the Ballon d’Or and UEFA do not respect Real Madrid. And Real Madrid is not where it is not respected.’
