A House of Representatives committee investigating the unauthorized Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has mandated the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to provide testimony regarding the entity’s questionable operations. This action follows a report from Permanent Secretary Dunoma Ahmed, who clarified that the Foreign Ministry maintains no formal ties with the organization.
During a Tuesday hearing, documentation was presented showing that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, claiming to lead both the PEAC and PFIPC, repeatedly requested the ministry’s support for a proposed World Investment Summit. These requests, submitted between 2025 and 2026, were ignored after officials identified significant inconsistencies in the correspondence.
The ministry confirmed that it sought guidance from the National Security Adviser in October 2025 regarding Prince Adeyemi’s status. The NSA’s subsequent investigation revealed that no such person is recognized by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation or the President’s Chief of Staff. The ministry explicitly denied ever engaging in diplomatic or bilateral discussions with the PFIPC.
Lawmaker Abubakar Hassan Fulata challenged the ministry for failing to formally notify the individual that his organization was illegal once its non-existence was confirmed. The committee chairman noted that while the ministry handled the matter by alerting security officials, the National Security Adviser must now explain how the investigation proceeded from that point.
