Akinboro Olumuyiwa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a candidate in the latest Nigerian Bar Association election, has characterized the process as the most flawed the organization has ever witnessed. Following the conclusion of the polls on July 19, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, was declared the winner with 12,317 votes, accounting for 47.18 percent of the total turnout.
In an interview with Arise TV, Olumuyiwa contested these results, pointing to significant irregularities. He reported that the voting portal failed within half an hour of opening, causing confusion for candidates. He noted that his own information was displayed incorrectly, with his name listed wrong and his photograph missing from the ballot.
Olumuyiwa dismissed the association’s claim of a cyberattack, arguing that such an incident would merely disrupt access rather than alter existing data. He further described the chaotic nature of the event, stating that the election was unexpectedly suspended in the early morning hours, leading many voters to believe it had been halted, only to have the process resumed later without clear communication.
