The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reported that two individuals perished in a collision between a Lexus sedan and a motorcycle in the Leme district of Abeokuta. Public relations officer Afolabi Odunsi stated that the event took place on Monday evening around 5:45 p.m.
The vehicles identified in the incident were a black Lexus, registered KJA 398 JR, and a black TVS motorcycle, registered AYT 837 QU. Six men were involved in the mishap. While two of them died, the remaining four individuals were unharmed.
Initial findings point to excessive speed as the primary factor. FRSC personnel arrived within five minutes to transport the deceased to the mortuary at the State Hospital in Ijaye. The agency also recovered personal items, such as a phone and ID card, before clearing the road.
Sector Commander Oludare Ogunjobi extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He advised road users to adhere to speed limits and practice caution to prevent fatal accidents. The FRSC continues to emphasize road safety through awareness campaigns and emergency response, encouraging the public to dial 122 during traffic emergencies.
