Rudi Garcia is the latest manager to vacate his post following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Spain secured a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the championship match. The Royal Belgian Football Association confirmed on Monday that Garcia will not have his contract renewed when it concludes on July 31. The 62-year-old led his squad to the tournament quarter-finals, where they were eliminated by the eventual winners.
Garcia is the 17th coach to exit his position following the tournament. Other departures include Didier Deschamps, who concluded a 14-year run with France, and Roberto Martínez, who left after a Round of 16 loss. Zlatko Dalic resigned from his 9-year position following a Round of 32 exit, while Javier Aguirre stepped down after an England-inflicted defeat. Additional departures feature Ronald Koeman, Sebastián Beccacece, Marcelo Bielsa, Steve Clarke, Hong Myung-bo, and Miroslav Koubek, all citing early tournament exits or contract completions. Furthermore, Pape Thiaw, Carlos Queiroz, Jamal Sellami, Vladimir Petković, and Julian Nagelsmann have also exited their roles. Sabri Lamouchi was dismissed from the Tunisia team early in the tournament.
