A fresh private institution known as Zoro International Open University (ZIOU) has opened in Bomadi, the administrative center of the Bomadi Local Government Area in Delta State. Its primary mission is to increase higher education availability for those living in riverine regions.
School officials stated the university exists to resolve the educational struggles faced by local youth who find it difficult to attend college due to significant geographic barriers. Management confirmed that the school is fully prepared to start classes, with all necessary operational requirements finalized for an upcoming admission cycle.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Osadi Benemone noted that students from nearby villages and towns can now seek degrees without the burden of long-distance travel to major cities. He emphasized the institution’s commitment to delivering high-quality education through various academic paths.
Currently, ZIOU operates four faculties. The Faculty of Sciences provides Agricultural and Computer Science, while the Faculty of Arts and Humanities offers fields such as English, Philosophy, Psychology, Mass Communication, International Relations, and History. The Faculty of Education covers topics like Public Health and Biology Education. Finally, the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences includes subjects ranging from Accountancy and Business Administration to Criminology and Political Science. Leadership plans to grow these offerings as the university serves the broader Delta State region.
