A high-ranking Iranian official revealed that global mediators have offered Iran a 10-day ceasefire. The objective is to lower regional tensions with the United States and restart discussions on an interim deal formed last month.
This truce aims to provide a window for both nations to reinstate the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) from June. That document initially created a 60-day pause in fighting after US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets occurred in late February.
Beyond halting hostilities, the MOU detailed plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz—a vital path for international oil transport—and set terms for permanent peace talks. The ultimate goal remains a full agreement covering Iran’s nuclear activities and a final cessation of conflict.
Israel remains a major opponent of this initiative, having been excluded from the original talks. Israeli authorities claim the memorandum ignores key security risks, specifically Iran’s nuclear goals, missile development, and wider regional stability. Tehran has not issued an official response yet, but mediation continues as officials work to stop the violence from worsening.
