The House of Representatives has established a special committee to review the legal foundation and budgetary integration of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). During the Monday launch in Abuja, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen clarified that the probe seeks factual clarity rather than political friction.
Speaker Abbas stated that the initiative responds to public discourse regarding the council’s mandate and its interaction with established investment agencies. He emphasized that the House aims to ensure accountability and constitutional compliance in government operations. The committee is specifically tasked with verifying if the PFIPC followed legal protocols during its formation and how it secured its place within the federal budget.
The investigative scope covers the council’s governance, funding, and potential overlap with existing institutions. The Speaker urged stakeholders to provide evidence, stressing that the inquiry must remain objective and fair. Committee Chairman Yusuf Adamu Gagdi committed to a professional process, promising that all parties will receive a fair hearing and that findings will be presented to the House once the review concludes.
