Authorities in Ondo State successfully apprehended three suspected interstate armed robbers over the weekend. The group, known for committing crimes across both Ondo and Lagos States, was captured during a routine stop and search operation while traveling in a Mercedes-Benz ML 350.
Officers discovered a significant cache of weapons during the inspection, including an AK-47 rifle with 18 rounds of ammunition, a Beretta pistol containing four live rounds, an axe, and an iron cutter. Ondo Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, identified the detainees as 34-year-old Promise Daniel, 29-year-old Ifeanyi Umahi, and 37-year-old Adaramoye Abayomi.
These suspects had been under police surveillance following an armed robbery report filed on June 14, 2026, in the Iju area of Akure North. Commissioner Ohagwu stated that this arrest marks a significant success in the ongoing effort to combat violent crime. The suspects have reportedly provided investigators with statements that are helping the police track down remaining members of the criminal network.
