Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, has reached a historic milestone by being elected as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association. She is only the second woman to lead this prominent legal organization in its 66-year history, following in the footsteps of Priscilla Kuye, who served in 1991.
With a total of 12,317 votes, Badejo-Okusanya surpassed competitors Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe and Olumuyiwa Akinboro during the association’s digital voting process. She is slated to take over leadership from Afam Osigwe at the upcoming Annual General Conference held in Port Harcourt.
Badejo-Okusanya holds degrees from the University of Lagos in English and Law. After starting her career at the prestigious firm Olaniwun Ajayi LP, she later contributed to public policy as a Senior Special Assistant on Justice Sector Reform for the Lagos State Government. Currently, she is a founding partner at Africa Law Practice NG & Company, where she manages litigation and dispute resolution. She attained the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2025.
Her extensive career includes roles on the Board of the Lagos Court of Arbitration and memberships in global organizations such as the International Bar Association and the London Court of International Arbitration. Having served as the chair of the 2024 conference planning committee and a member of the National Executive Council, her election recognizes her long-term dedication to the Nigerian legal community.
