Gunmen have released three individuals, including a driver and one sibling, following a kidnapping incident on the Otukpo–Ogobia Road in Benue State. The attackers also returned the corpse of an elderly woman who was being transported to her funeral. Two other siblings remain in custody as the captors demand a N30 million ransom for their freedom.
The family was traveling from Abuja to Oklenyi in the Okpokwu Local Government Area for their mother’s interment when their vehicle malfunctioned. They were ambushed by armed individuals while waiting for assistance. The recovered body has since been transported to Okpoga to proceed with burial ceremonies.
While family members are thankful to have the deceased returned, they remain deeply concerned for the safety of those still held captive. They are actively seeking the ransom funds while calling on law enforcement to assist in the rescue. The Benue State Police Command has yet to release an official statement regarding the situation.
