Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for choosing to maintain Senator Kashim Shettima as his vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election cycle. The announcement followed an event at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, where President Tinubu formally presented the official All Progressives Congress certificate to his deputy.
Zulum noted that this is a historic milestone for Borno State and the Northeast region, marking the first instance where a native of the area has occupied the vice presidency and earned a renomination. Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, the governor mentioned that he plans to organize a delegation of representatives from the Northeastern states to visit the president and formally acknowledge the decision.
The governor emphasized that the position is a significant achievement for the entire Northern region, noting that previous attempts by other leaders had not resulted in such a placement. He expressed deep appreciation to the broader Northern constituency for their continued support of Shettima’s vice-presidential tenure.
