Donald Trump to Attend World Cup Final as Commemorative Rings Unveiled

Fifa is set to distribute commemorative rings for Sunday’s World Cup final, an event confirmed to be attended by Donald Trump despite recent controversies over disciplinary rulings.

Fifa has officially introduced a set of commemorative World Cup rings ahead of Sunday’s championship match between Argentina and Spain. This accessory, often associated with American sports traditions like the NFL Super Bowl, will be awarded to the winning team. In addition to the 30 rings reserved for the champions, Fifa is offering 1,996 units for public purchase. Every ring features a miniature trophy design and a specific engraving.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Donald Trump will be present at the final held at MetLife Stadium to award the trophy. Despite air quality concerns in New York linked to Canadian wildfires, organizers anticipate no changes to the schedule. This marks the president’s first appearance at the tournament.

The event follows a period of tension regarding Fifa president Gianni Infantino and President Trump, particularly concerning the controversial decision to waive an automatic suspension for U.S. striker Folarin Balogun after a red card. Critics questioned the move’s fairness, as other nations like France and England were denied similar reviews during the competition.

The USA is co-hosting this event alongside Canada and Mexico. The third-place play-off between England and France is scheduled for Saturday in Miami, followed by the main final on Sunday. Both matches will be broadcast via BBC platforms.
