Military forces detain alleged Boko Haram fuel distributor in Borno

Operation HADIN KAI troops captured a 23-year-old suspect accused of providing fuel to Boko Haram and ISWAP militants during a targeted operation in Borno State.

Soldiers participating in Operation HADIN KAI have apprehended a man accused of supplying resources to Boko Haram and ISWAP militants. The arrest occurred during a tactical mission in the Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the event via social media. The mission was carried out on July 15 at 3:00 p.m. by personnel from the 149 Battalion alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force, acting on reliable intelligence reports.

Authorities identified the 23-year-old suspect as Ali Umar. He was intercepted while reportedly engaged in logistical support for terrorist cells near the Binduldul–Kareto area. Officials seized a Volkswagen Golf, identified by license plate BO KGG 268AA, and a Tecno smartphone from the scene.

During initial questioning, Umar reportedly admitted to trafficking petrol to insurgents active in the region. He remains held by the 149 Battalion for continued inquiry. This operation aligns with broader strategic goals by Operation HADIN KAI to break down insurgent supply chains throughout North-East Nigeria.
