Comrade Adolphus Ude, an official within the African Democratic Congress, has reprimanded Anambra State Governor Professor Charles Soludo for his vocal support of President Bola Tinubu’s announced infrastructure initiatives in the South-East. Soludo recently expressed gratitude toward the President for authorizing the design and procurement phases for two key routes: the 108km Otuocha-Anam-Abaji Road and the 150km Oba-Nnewi-Uga-Ihube Road.
Ude, who leads the ADC Like-Minds group, questioned why the governor would offer such effusive praise for merely reaching the design stage, rather than actual project implementation. He characterized Soludo’s public statements as sycophantic, arguing that the governor is acting more like a presidential spokesperson than a state leader. Ude contended that this behavior demeans the people of the South-East.
Highlighting a perceived lack of tangible progress, Ude pointed out that Tinubu has yet to complete any significant road construction in the region. He contrasted this with the substantial funding directed toward major projects elsewhere, such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway. The ADC chieftain further criticized the concession of Enugu’s Akanu Ibiam International Airport to private interests while contrasting it with the federal government’s direct investment in Lagos airport infrastructure.
Ultimately, Ude urged regional governors to prioritize their constituents over political posturing. He asserted that the current administration’s record in the South-East remains underwhelming and warned against using the region as a tool for personal political gain.
