Osun 2026: Governor Adeleke’s Aides and Accord Party Leaders Defect to APC

Key aides to Governor Ademola Adeleke and prominent members of the Accord Party have defected to the APC in anticipation of the August 15 Osun governorship election.

Ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, several high-ranking officials serving under Governor Ademola Adeleke alongside leaders from the Accord Party have officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). This announcement was made on Tuesday at the Ileri-Oluwa House located in Osogbo.

The individuals transitioning to the APC include the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Market Affairs, Moyoade Lukman, and Azeez Kazeem, who served as a Senior Special Assistant in the Governor’s Office. Joining them are notable Accord Party figures such as Dr. Leye Olagbaju, a former House of Representatives aspirant for the Ife Federal Constituency, and local youth leader Asamo Gbenga, as well as Ojuolape Olagbaju.

Dr. Olagbaju stated that the move was motivated by his belief in the capability of the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to lead the state toward prosperity. He pledged to utilize his political network to secure a victory for the APC in the upcoming race. Meanwhile, Moyoade Lukman described his departure as a return to his political roots. Wole Oke, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, welcomed the new members and promised them full integration into the party, hinting that further high-profile defections from the current administration are imminent.
